Road & Track Racing
Racing doesn’t build character. It reveals it.
Riding a bike is one thing. Racing a bike is something altogether different. For those interested in putting their training to the test and taking things to the next level, Grosse Pointe United will regularly compete in local and regional road races, sanctioned by both USA Cycling (USAC) and the Michigan Bicycle Racing Association (MBRA), as well as track races at the Lexus Velodrome.
Road Racing
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with the MBRA, all scheduled road races are cancelled until further notice. Currently, the earliest races on the schedule are the Detroit Cycling Championship on Saturday, August 23rd and the Debaets-Devos State Championship Criterium on Sunday, August 30th. For the latest updates check the MBRA calendar below.
Track Racing
For the past two years, the Lexus Velodrome has been home to some of the fastest, most exciting bike racing in the country. The Velodrome hosts local Saturday Night Rumble races and once monthly 2-day Championship Races, drawing riders from around the world. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the track has been closed to training and racing since March. However, when it reopens, the Velodrome will again provide free equipment, professional instruction and structured training for all riders under 18.
